Summerfield has a purpose built commercial kitchen where our cook creates fresh, homemade meals daily.
We provide morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.
All meals meet the Healthy Heart guidelines of the Heart Foundation.
Lunch is a social time for children to sit and talk with their friends and teachers in the central dining room.
Children use real crockery, glassware and utensils.
Starting at Summerfield
Prior to starting we will contact you to arrange a series of visits. These visits allow you and your child to begin to establish relationships with the teachers and to become familiar with routines and the environment.
The early childhood curriculum (Te Whaariki) forms the basis of centre planning. The curriculum is based on four principles (empowerment, holisitic development, family and community and relationships) and within these principles are five strands of learning (well being, belonging, contribution, communication and exploration).
The goal for Summerfield is to foster skills and values that remain with the children for life.
The Summerfield environment has been set up to allow for individual growth and development.
