Summerfield Events
Below are Summerfield’s extra curricula events for the children and families.
This will enrich our weekly programme and assist in building a positive centre culture that will welcome and encourage participation from the community, parents, and other family members
Chinese New Year – January
Chinese New Year is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar.
We value the importance of recognising the different cultures that make up our surrounding community.
Waitangi Day – February
Waitangi Day, the national day of New Zealand, marks the anniversary of the initial signing – on 6 February 1840 – of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is regarded as the founding document of the nation.

Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day is Cure Kids biggest annual appeal when kiwis across Aotearoa come together to help fund big research for little lives.

This Red Nose appeal, we’re inviting you to join us to help raise funds for more research into a wide range of child health.

School Holiday Programme – April
Between each school term we change up our usual programme and run a specialised holiday programme for the children that runs for the 2 weeks between terms.
The school holiday programme consists of a variety of fun days for the children to experience. We have themed days based on the children’s current interests and room focus, as well as days where children get the added opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understand in different areas
Mothers Day – May
Today we celebrate Mother’s Day at Summerfield. We would like to invite all mums to come and join us in the centre for a special afternoon where we can spend time celebrating and appreciating all you do.
The children have created a little keepsake for you to take home and we will enjoy some yummy treats and capture precious moments in our photo booth.
Anzac Day – 25th April
Lest we forget. Each year we celebrate Anzac day, a day of remembrance and an opportunity for our new generation to learn a little bit about our history.
We make and bake Anzac biscuits and sell for charity, doing our bit and what we can for the community.
World Environment Week – June
Our growing environment is changing every day and we need to ensure we look after our planet for our future generation. During environment week, the children will learn how they can be active participants to the world they live in. We strive to inspire and empower our children through providing them with the knowledge, understanding and skill set to achieve tangible sustainability.
Matariki – June
At Summerfield we value and recognise a myriad of cultures.
We believe it is important for our children to learn about New Zealand culture and celebrate what is means to be a kiwi. Children create their very own Matariki stars, and they are exposed to books and rituals around Matariki celebrations.
