Mary-Rose Hall – Founder and Director

Mary-Rose is an inspirational leader who cherishes young children, their families and the staff in her team. She has worked in the education industry for over 35 years and her passion and commitment stands strong today.

Her career began as a primary school teacher and this experience was invaluable for what was to come next. Working with primary aged children lead Mary-Rose to truly believe in early childhood education, and she was quick to realise the importance of pre-school years in laying down a solid foundation for successful and fulfilling future learning.

With a strong vision and an abundance of determination, Mary-Rose established Summerfield in 1987. She was an industry pioneer and committed to creating a centre that prioritised children and their families and accepted nothing less than excellence. The values she built Summerfield on continue to remain at the heart of our centre today and form the principles of our philosophy.

Our families and staff describe Mary-Rose as a caring, warm and supportive person who is both innovative and charismatic. Her creativity is abundant as is her sense of fun. Mary-Rose is extremely generous with her time, feedback and words of wisdom, and has consequently cemented respect and long-lasting connections with the community, education providers and families.

In addition to building an Early Leaning Centre of excellence, Mary-Rose works within the community supporting children and their families. Her affiliations with other educational institutes and charitable communities are applauded and the special ‘Mary-Rose’ touches can be clearly seen across our community.

Mary-Rose continues to work closely with Angela, Colleen and the team to maintain the “Summerfield way” and can, on occasion, be found in the office, spending time with some of our children or hugging a baby close to her.

Angela Webb – Manager

Angela joined Summerfield as an inspiring young teacher over 20 years ago and we are incredibly proud to say she is still with us, now as Summerfield’s Manager. Her commitment to Summerfield, our children, their families and our teachers is unparalled. She is intrinsically loyal and motivated and is exceptional at her job.

Angela is without doubt an impassioned advocator for children, their wellbeing, development and education. Over a number of years she has developed our “Ready for School” program. This comprehensive program enables Summerfield Children to transition smoothly to school well prepared for the school learning environment. Schools have told us they know when they have a Summerfield child in their classes.

Angela’s commitment to Summerfield children’s early development years is exceptional. She deeply values creating a childcare centre where teachers are well supported and valued, inspiring them to give and do their best. We believe this is one of the key factors for our team’s stability and longevity.

She develops robust partnerships with parents using open and reliable communication to ensure their child and the family are well supported during their Summerfield time and through the transition to school.

With more than 25 years dedicated to teaching and management in Early Childhood Angela brings a broad depth of knowledge and experience. She leads our motivated and dedicated team to ensure Summerfield continues to be a leader in Early Childhood Education.

Colleen Rawlinson – Administration Manager

Colleen has worked for Summerfield for 30 years, in many different capacities. Her children attended the original Summerfield preschool located in Dairy Flat and now her grandchildren attend our Early Childhood Learning centre in Albany. She has played an integral part in Summerfield’s story and her passion for her work and for Summerfield have been humbling.

Today, as our Administration Manager, she does an exceptional job of juggling the myriad of responsibilities this position holds. Her strong work ethic and organisation abilities mean jobs get done to an extremely high standard.

Colleen has built strong relationships with our parents through the many liaison’s she has with them. She is the first point of contact for most people who walk through the door, and compassion and interest are reflected in all her conversations.

Colleen has a great sense of humour and enjoys making connections with families and staff alike. She plays a key role in supporting our Centre Manager and is committed to ensuring our children, their families and our staff are welcomed and cared for at an exceptional level. Summerfield is as much a part of her life as she is to ours and we know her contribution ensures we are in great hands as we move into our future.
